Study Tools
I like the possibilities with Tagxedo. I found that it was tough at times to manoever and I spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect shape. I was thinking that this could be used with a cultural project and the kids could find the shape of the country they are focusing on. When I tried to find the shape I wanted, they didn't have it and then when I tried to find an image myself it wasn't copying correctly. So, I used this one just to get my point across but I would like to tweak this a bit more. If anyone has ideas or you have found your own image, let me know!
I love, love , love Quizlet!! This is perfect for that vocab practice that the kids need with each new unit. I especially loved the practice set where they listened to the word in Spanish and then had to spell it correctly in Spanish. This is so great for learning the sounds and how to start telling some of those vowel sounds apart. I will definately use this! Very easy to set up.

I think we are all in agreement - Quizlet is the best! I can see how it would be very beneficial for Spanish students. I couldn't get your Taxgedo to show up - it wants me to Install Microsoft Silverlight - weird. But, I'm sure it is great!
ReplyDeleteGreat study tools, Teri! I know when I tried to find my own images for Tagxedo they just didn't work as well as the ones they had provided. The other thing I went back and forth on was which direction to put the words. I ended up using a variety of directions because it looked prettier, but I realize it is easier to read if the words are horizontal. Your heart works great, here!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nancy on your Tagxedo--it looks fab! I can see students putting together their 'favorites' in a shape like this as well! I didn't try with my own image, but will certainly keep that 'in my pocket' as I try further.
ReplyDeleteQuizlet is cool--hoping that it won't become 'old hat' too soon for some of the kids! ;)
I really liked Quizlet too! I could not figure out how to get Tagxedo to work for me so props for figuring that out!
ReplyDeleteThese were MADE for second language acquisition! ;)
ReplyDeleteOkay - now I have Microsoft Silverlight and your Tagxedo looks great!
ReplyDeleteTeri, These are great! You are such a well organized teacher with so many fun tools and ideas. These will add to your many options that you use each quarter! Keep up the great work! I like the idea of using Tagxedo as part of a culture project, too!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking pictures! I really like the idea of loading personal pictures into Tagxedo. I love the possibilities for class and the fun it can be to make things for gifts and to commemorate the good times in life. See you in a week!
